Things with Wings - SSS Monday Challenge

Hello everyone. I had this window frame sitting on my desk from my play over the weekend and I thought that it would work great for a card to enter into this weeks Monday challenge over at SSS. The theme is things with Wings and Birds and Butterflies work great for that theme.

The window frame is colored using Lindys Magicals and the background behind the window was created using Ken Oliver's Color burst. They are similar products and paired up nicely together.

I also pulled out some of my Tim Holtz rub ons to add more interest to the background.  I finished it off by adding some Spring ephemera from Tim Holtz' new collection.

News of Spring

Hi everyone! I decided to pull out my ephemera today to play in the challenge over at Simon Says Stamps. The them is "Layer it up", so I did.

I am using some of my new Spring ephemera from the Tim Holtz collection called Layers Botanical along with some additional pieces from K&Company. Here is a closer look.

I created the stain glass using some Lindy's Magicals. They were a lot of fun to work with, but boy did my fingers get dirty.

I finished it off with a sentiment from Graphic 45.

CAS-ual Fridays DT Call

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I have applied for a Design Team, but thought I would give it a go. CAS-ual Fridays challenge team has some openings, so I am applying as well as playing in their current challenge called "Off the edge." 

I created this card using two butterfly stamps from a  Finnabair set called "Rust and Dust."  The grid background is from a Tim Holtz set and the sentiment is from Graphic 45. 

I stamped the images and sentiment using Jet Black Archival Ink and added some color using a Peacock Feathers distress crayon.

The challenge goes on until March 21st. So there is plenty of time to play along.  I hope you like my card and wish me luck on the entry for the design team.

Learn to Let Go!

Hey Crafty friends and happy July! This month we are doing things a bit differently over at So Suzy Stamps.  We are re-introducing some sentiments and pairing them up with some stamps of our favorite images.

12 Months of Tags - May 2016

Hi crafty friends! I am down to the last minute in creating and sharing my Tag for the 12 Months of Tags challenge that Tim Holtz has monthly. One of my goals for this year has been to participate in the monthly challenge. I really enjoy working with his products and it is a chance for me to really let my creativity go wild.

Sometimes I don't like the direction the tag is taking me, but I persevere as I did no this one and the results are great!

My stamped butterflies on the left side of the tag were not coming through on my washi tape. I was not happy with the look, but I continued on with the tag.  When I was looking for my embellishments, I came across my stickers that had the Butterflies & Moths. Since they matched the stamp I was attempting to use, I added the stickers and it really seemed to work.

I get to go crazy and let loose when creating these tags. I am not creating for anyone but myself, and that is why I think I love these challenges.

Angels at Christmas Time

It is time for another Design Team challenge over at Cornish Heritage Farms. I have challenged the team this week to use an Angel in their card.

The image I worked with this week is called Butterfly Digital Fairy Stamp. It is one of my favorite Angel images because I love butterflies. There are several Angels to choose from over at the store, so be sure to take a peak.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2015

I found some time last night to bring out the alcohol inks and play along with the September 12  Tags of 2015 that Tim Holtz hosts every month.

Now I never have won (boo hoo), but it is fun learning new techniques and also re experimenting with old ones. Alcohol inks are not new to me and I enjoy playing with them. It is a messy play for sure though, so you have to be in the right state of mind.

 On his tag this month he used clear texture paste to create his embossed look. I did not have any so I just used an embossing folder and it seemed to work fine. I knew I would be covering my butterfly stamp with some fussy cut butterflies, so I was not too worried about embossing over my image.
Truth be told, it really did not look that bad anyway.

I have had some wire on hand forever, so I was glad to see another way to adhere my word bands. I love those word bands, I use them often.

So I hope that you like my tag, whenever there are butterflies involved, you know I will be playing along!

Butterfly Snowflakes

He everyone. I am back to share with you a Christmas card I made with one of Suzy's sentiment stamps called Winter's Butterflies.

Butterflies are one of my favorite type of images. I don't know if you ever noticed, but it is even in my watermark.  I love how beautiful they are as well as the symbolism of them.  So of course I had to have this sentiment.

I have been playing with perfect pearls and I used it again on this sentiment. I stamped the sentiment using faded jeans distressing ink and then used a small paint brush and just brushed some perfect pearls on the sentiment while the ink was still wet.

I then used my distressing tool to ink up the edge of the tag.  I then adhered it to some white glossy card stock that I embossed with snowflakes and cut with one of my Nestability die cuts.

I embossed some blue card stock with polka dots and then adhered the white glossy card stock on top of that. I added some punched out butterflies and some gems and there you have it. Simple but elegant.

Alcohol inks & Butterflies

Spring colors is the theme this month over at A Vintage Journey. So I decided to get my alcohol inks out and see what I could come up with. 

This is one of my favorite stamp sets from Stamper's Anonymous called Papillon. I love butterflies and I love Parisian theme's, so these two work well together. 

I used two paper stacks for this design. The butterflies are stamped by Pink Paislee called color wash. The two background papers are from My Mind's Eye called Everyday Tango. Whenever I bring out my alcohol inks I usually stamp several images. I think I ended up with about 10 backgrounds, so I made a set of these card.

They work great for many occasions, so I know I will always have a pretty card on hand.
