12 Months of Tags - May 2016

Hi crafty friends! I am down to the last minute in creating and sharing my Tag for the 12 Months of Tags challenge that Tim Holtz has monthly. One of my goals for this year has been to participate in the monthly challenge. I really enjoy working with his products and it is a chance for me to really let my creativity go wild.

Sometimes I don't like the direction the tag is taking me, but I persevere as I did no this one and the results are great!

My stamped butterflies on the left side of the tag were not coming through on my washi tape. I was not happy with the look, but I continued on with the tag.  When I was looking for my embellishments, I came across my stickers that had the Butterflies & Moths. Since they matched the stamp I was attempting to use, I added the stickers and it really seemed to work.

I get to go crazy and let loose when creating these tags. I am not creating for anyone but myself, and that is why I think I love these challenges.

12 Tags of 2016 - April

Another month means another technique challenge from Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016.  I am an avid fan and I love his work. But moreover, I love his creative mind.

He has taught me to think outside the box and to push my creative limits. It is funny how someone you have never met can have such an influence on you don't you think?

So the technique this month is to create a Mosaic background. Now more times than not, I do not have all the supplies necessary to exactly copy his technique, but I don't let that stop me.

I didn't want to cut up all my ephemera, because it is so pretty, I took my 12 x 12 pad and cut up some of the smaller squares. I had never really used those smaller squares, but they were perfect.

Then using one of my newest favorite products, Collage Medium Matte, I adhered my pieces onto a white grunge board I had die cut using my Fresh Brewed Dies. I didn't have the Wood Grain paper that he used on his card, so I embossed some white card stock and distressed it using Weathered Wood.

12 Tags of 2016 - March

This is the third month of the 12 Tags of 2016, but sadly only my second tag. I have vowed to go back to January and create the tag with the shared technique, but it is still on my "To Do" list.

But I am happy to say, that I  have completed my March tag using my new Distress Crayons. I will not only share with you my finished tag, but also some of the other tags I created along the way.

I used my Gear die cuts and the "Vintage tones" distress crayons for this tag. While Tim used his brighter colors for the inside panel, I stayed with the browns and the blacks. It created definitely a more grunged look.

Here are all three tags I created using all three sets of the distress crayons. I love the brights, which is the tag on the left. They definitely are the prettiest!

The texture of the crayons is like lipstick and it blends very well. My fingers were very colorful by the time I was finished. I am looking forward to my next round of colortime!

12 Tags of 2016 - February

Hey everyone! I might be late to the party...but I am here. This is my first tag this month in Tim's 12 months of tags series.

I have vowed to make every tag this year, even if I have to go back a month to catch up. I know it is too late for January, but I plan to still make use his January technique and put a tag together for my collection.

I love the February tags as they always center around romance. I used 3 stencils on this tag as well as some texture paste which you can find in my etsy shop.
