Find the Time - Altered Art

Hello my friends. I am here today to share with you my very first altered art clip board. I have been wanting to make one of these for a while and Michael's had this covered clip board on sale, so thought it was calling out to me.

I love how this turned out, so let me show you what I did.

I started with this clip board. It was covered when I purchased it, so I had a great canvas to start with.

Before I started to alter it, I brushed the board with some Gesso to give it a more faded look.
I then used my Mini Harlequin stencil from So Suzy Stamps along with some texture paste to add some dimension to it. I also added some Tim Holtz ticket washi tape and glued it down with some Mod Podge.

You may be able to see some blues and pinks on the burlap, I added Broken China and Victorian Velvet Distress Stain and then used Fired Brick and Peeled Paint Distress paint to give the stenciled area some color.

From there it was just a matter of finding pieces of ephemera, and embellishments to bring it together. I must say this Tim Holtz Weathered Clock Die has certainly been earning it's keep. I LOVE it and use it often. Well worth the purchase!

I found the roses over at Ephemera's Vintage Garden. You can sign up and get a freebie emailed to you every Friday. Another great find! The BLISS ticket is from Tim Holtz' idea-ology collection called Adage Tickets.

Then finished it off with some letter chip board and another Tim Holtz embellishment called Plaquettes.

I created this to enter it into the challenge over at A Vintage Journey, but hopefully I will find a few more to enter it into as well. I am also linking up to Becca's Birthday Link Up givaway! She has created a mood board and challenged us to use items on it to create a project. One of her favorites is textured cards and teals. I have lots of texture in this piece and did throw in some teal distress stain.

Here is her mood board. Hopefully you can play along. She has some fabulous prize!

This was a lot of fun to create, I think I will have to do a few more!

Thanks for stopping by!

Alcohol inks & Butterflies

Spring colors is the theme this month over at A Vintage Journey. So I decided to get my alcohol inks out and see what I could come up with.

This is one of my favorite stamp sets from Stamper's Anonymous called Papillon. I love butterflies and I love Parisian theme's, so these two work well together.

I used two paper stacks for this design. The butterflies are stamped by Pink Paislee called color wash. The two background papers are from My Mind's Eye called Everyday Tango. Whenever I bring out my alcohol inks I usually stamp several images. I think I ended up with about 10 backgrounds, so I made a set of these card.

They work great for many occasions, so I know I will always have a pretty card on hand.

Thanks for stopping by.

From the Heart

It has been a few days since I have posted. It has been a rough few days and life events seem to be taking over. My Mother in Law has been fighting cancer over the last 4 years and that cancer is relentless!

We never do have enough time with our loved ones do we? Time passes and seems to get away from us. She is resting and we are trying to keep her comfortable. So in honor of my 2nd Mom, I decided to dedicate this Mother's Day Card to her.

A Vintage Journey is having a challenge currently with a them "through the looking glass". I created this ATC and decided to make it into a Mother's Day Card.

I decided to go with a butterfly theme and incorporated them throughout. I didn't lose focus on the challenge theme using clock faces as well as the Monocle which overlays the Mother and her children.

Hopefully I will be able to share this card with her. She is a card maker as well and actaully got me started in the crazy hobby! It is something we will always share in our hearts!

I hope you like my card, it was made with LOVE inspired by a special lady!
