Today is full of possibilities

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a mixed media canvas I have been working on for a while. While I can sit down and create a layered card with no problem at all, creating a wall canvas is a bit more challenging for me.

I can't tell you how many times I fuss with my layout trying to figure out the perfect place for all my embellishments. So let me walk you through what i did.

The canvas background was created with magicals and clear gesso.  The moisture of the gesso moves the magical powder perfectly.  I used a larger paint brush to get the streaks. I wanted my canvas to have a distinct sky and grass area.

Next I added some clear washi tissue tape and adhered it with some distress collage medium. I also added some the tall base swirls to the corners from Architextures.

I next added some texture paste using the tiles stencil from Tim Holtz. Next I glued down my straws using tombow glue.

The picture frame was picked up on clearance at my local Michael's store. I removed the backing and added some Tim Holtz collage paper. I also die cut the butterfly using velum and the layered butterfly die from tonic studios.

Once I had my focal point in place, it was just a matter of adding embellishments. I used paper flowers from some chipboard from Prima Marketing. The white leaves were from an old Martha Stewart pack I had in my stash I also added some white pearls.

Finally I added my sentiment "Today Is Full Of Possibilities" which is from the Tim Holtz Quote Chips pack and a couple of butterflies.

I hope that you enjoyed my project. While these don't come as easy as cards, I really get a lot of satisfaction and joy out of the finished project.

Mixed Media Cards using black embossing paste

Hi everyone! I am here today to share with you a new product that I have been having a lot of fun with. Black embossing paste creates such a dramatic statement on cards and canvases that I thought I would share with you a couple of projects i have created.

If you would like to see my process video, you can check it out below.

I created my background using Art Screen Ink from Heidi Swapp. I also used some magicals from Lindsey's Stamping gang.

I added some washi tissue tape to add more interest then added my black embossing paste with my pallet knife and a stencil from TCW called Mini Butterfly Meadow.

The embossing paste creates such a dramatic silhouette against the bright background. Finally I added a sentiment from the Tim Holtz Simple Sentiment collection.

Mixed Media Halloween Cards

Hi everyone! Are you intimidated when it comes to mixed media? Well, I know I was in the beginning as well. I am here to share with a Halloween mixed media card that has lots of great colors, textures, and is easy to create.

The Jack O Lantern Stencil I am working with is from Clear Scrap and the Leaf Punch is called Intricate Flair. If you want to see a step by step process, you can click on the video below.

This card has several layers of texture. I started out using a honey comb embossing folder.  From there I added Nuvo Embellishment Mousse and some fall color distress crayons.

Once I was happy with my background, I added the Jack O Lantern using my stencil from Clear Scraps and Some Copper Crackle Texture paste.

The leaves were created using some distress oxides and a Punch called Autumn Flair Intricate Punch.  I added a few embellishments and my card was complete.

I have listed all the products that I used to create these beautiful fall cards. If you have never worked with mixed media products, I encourage you to give them a try. They really are a lot of fun and the results are awesome!

Thanks for stopping by.

Street Art Valentine Frame

Hi everyone! I am here today to share with you a creation I made as part of the Canvas Corp Brand Crew. I have created an Urban Street Art Valentine Frame by covering an unfinished picture frame with some Canvas Corp Brand Paper and lots of embellishments.

Here is a video if you would like to see the process in action.

I started out with a plain frame, some Decor & DIY paint and Designer paper from Canvas Corp Brand.

I trimmed the designer paper to match my frame and adhered it using perfect paper adhesive. I then added some texture paste using a stencil.

I spritzed and painted some flowers from Prima using some sprays from Tattered Angels.

I decorated the frame using some rub ons from 7gypsies and ideaology.  I also added a Film Strip ribbon and added some little words and images.

Once I had everything adhered, I distressed the edges using Walnut stain distress ink and pained the back black with the Decor and DIY Ebony paint
