Hello crafty friends! I am here today to share a card with you that I created using the new Ticket Booth stamp set from Stampers Anonymous.

I also picked up the new Chit Chat snarky sticker pack that I have been having a lot of fun using. There are some great quotes and fun statements that will be great additions to your cards and projects.

The ledger paper in the background was found at a local thrift shop. I was able to use one of the stamps from the etcetera collection to create my vintage ledger background.

Coffee Lover's Blog Hop Day 3

 Good morning, Good afternoon or Good evening...depending on what time you are hopping. It is the third day of the Coffee Lovers blog hop and I am here to encourage you to be strong!  Now if that means, take a break and get a strong cup of coffee, then by all means...do what ya gotta do!

I didn't have a lot of time to put this card together, but I did have a few scraps laying around on my desk so I threw this together. If you remember, I used these cute little wooden coffee cups in my card yesterday, so I still had the package on my desk. Is that cheating?

Crafting with recycled crafting packaging

Hi everyone! Hopefully you saw yesterday's video and got some ideas on how to recycle some of your packaging that comes with our wonderful papers and embellishments.

Today I wanted to share with you the cards I created with some of those embellishments. As I explained in the video, using the cardboard backings gives you a sturdy surface to add some of your mixed media products.  As you would expect, the more items you add to your card, the heavier it becomes, so having a sturdy base is essential. 

I also added some paper tape to add a little interest to the heart. 7gypsies also carries a great 3 pack of paper tape called global which would be great for this technique. If you want to see how I created these cards be sure to check out the video over on my You Tube 

               

The clock die cut was sprayed with Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels called Woven burlap. The paper stack is called Ordre Du Jour  I also used some Rubbings called Nomenclature.  I also added an antique black Key wrapped in twine from the 7gypsies collection and metal Pen Nibs.

My second card is a layered card and I used one of my recycled packaging backings and stamped it to create a script background.  I also added some mini ephemera from 7gypsies called Receipts.

As a center focal point, I did use my recycled cardboard that I had covered with some paper from the Ordre Du Jour paper stack and added a metal embellishment.  I also added two hearts that I punched out from another piece of packaging that I recycled. 

Now while these cards do have hearts, they can really work for any occasion. Everyone loves to receive cards, so make sure that this year you let your friends and loved ones know you are thinking about them with a handmade card. It is something they can display and cherish all year long!

MHKDesigns - New Design Team and Challenge

Hello and Happy New Year! I am very excited about 2017! I will be part of the design team over at MHKDesigns this year and this is my very first post.  If you are not familiar with Mynn's designs, I encourage you to check out her etsy shop. 

Her designs are just my style where vintage images meet modern sentiments. 

So now that you know who we are, lets get started on the first challenge of 2017.

 All of our challenges are photo inspired and do not require you to use an image from MHKDesigns. If you do use an image from MHKDesigns then anything goes.

The set I am using is from the Beautiful Bottles Stamp Set. I also used the Designer paper set called Country Farm.

Now what is a challenge without prizes? The winner  winner will receive a set of sentiments and a patterned paper shown below. So let us know how the image inspires you? We  would love to see you play along. I have provide a link to our challenge rules in case you are not familiar with them.

Finding our Creativity

Where does our creativity come from? It is so different for so many people. One of the things that I love doing is visiting antique shops and sifting through old items of the past.  Another word for it is Junking! You never know what you will find our who you will run into.

Many of you know me for my vintage inspired creations and my admiration for Tim Holtz.  Not only do I love his product, but I love his style and I get a lot of my inspiration from him.  I think the biggest gift he has given me is the ability to let go and own the "imperfections" of my designs. It was only then that I could really build on my style.

I also love taking lots of pictures while junking. I am not sure exactly what I will do with them, but they make me  happy and I am inspired by them.  I may frame them and put them up in my studio so I am surrounded by yesteryear while I create.

The booths give me decorating ideas and If I am lucky I may even find a few items that I can use as props for the photos of my designs. Now if I am really lucky, I can find an item that is great aesthetically as well as practical.

I found this old cabinet that looked awesome. When I opened it up, I knew exactly what I could use it for. It was just the perfect size to hold my washi tape.

So I would say that my day was complete. I finally got to me one of my favorite people and I found a great addition to my studio.  All in all...a good day!

Coffee Lover's Blog Hop - Day 1

It is day 1 of the Winter Coffee Lover's blog hop! I love these blog hops as I know many of you do as well. I look forward to them every season!  I decided for my first card to make a non traditional Christmas card. I just purchased a new stamp from StamPlorations and I was anxious to use it.

There is a lot of traveling during the holiday season, so I decided to use my new suitcase stamp and combine it with Coffee to have a Coffee Travel card.  I used some fun printables from VectoriaDesigns to create some stickers and Coffee paper from Canvas Corp Brand to cut out the Coffee circles.

I grunged up the suitcases with my distress crayons and adhered my images with Vintage Distress Collage Medium. I finished off the card by adding some Tim Holtz Washi tape to incorporate a Christmas theme.
