Three Layer Card - Chatter

Good morning bloggers! Hope everyone is having a great week. It has been chilly here in Phoenix, with some rain. But I guess that is better than the white stuff so many of you are still experiencing!

I am here today to share a card I made a few weeks ago and just have not had time to post. It is a three layered card and I thought this technique would work great with the new Chatter stamp released over at So Suzy Stamps.

The first layer of course was the entire stamp. It is a larger stamp so I used my stamp press. I like using clear embossing powder with my black ink because I find the black sometimes leaves speckles even if I am using my embossing magic pad.

Then I matted it onto black card stock and stamped another image. Once I determined where the layer would be, I sliced it and matted that piece. I then fussy cut the phone. I used foam dots to give each piece some height.

Here is a side view. I didn't want a lot of room on the sides so I made a not standard size of 6" x 4.5". I will use my envelope maker to make a perfect envelope for this fun card.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Black & White Shabby Chic

I am feeling a little under the weather today. My husband is just getting rid of his cold and I think he gave it to me. I like presents and all, but he could have kept this one to himself. In any case, I wanted to share a post of a black and white card I made over the weekend.

I had never heard of Shabby Chic" until I started joining challenges. To describe these types of cards I always used "Vintage Inspired." Well regardless, I love making these types of cards. I don't use my rubber stamps often enough, so I made a point to try and use them more often.

The rubber stamps is from Hampton Art and is one of my favorites. It works great with black and white cards. Lots of layering on this one. Designer paper, doily ribbon and brads from my stash. The sentiment comes to you compliments of Created with TLC.

I think this will make a great birthday card.

With Love from Goonkie

I come to you today to share a card I am sending to my Aunt in New Mexico. I lost my Uncle this morning and my heart is sad. It is funny how you may not speak to someone in a while, but your heart can still hurt when you loose someone that was a very big part of your life in the past.

Growing up my uncle was always around us. I spent summers with him and my Aunt as a young girl and have some very fond memories. He and my other uncle had a nick name for me and it is something I had not thought about in a while. They called me "Goonkie." Now I am not sure where that came from, but it was who I was to them. They even had a little lyric they would sing...I'm talkin about Goonks MaGoonks...

Sounds silly, but it makes me smile to think about it. My heart is heavy as I think about how in an instant, we can loose family and friends. This was sudden and unexpected, which makes the shock even harder.  My Aunt always comments on my cards on FB and is a great supporter. I am sending this to her today with my Love.

Uncle Bud, if you can hear me, know that your Goonkie loved you and you will always be a fond memory in my heart.

The sentiment was provided by Lisa over at Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. Here is a closer look:

I'm sharing this card with Word Art Wednesday.

Candy Holder for my Valentine

I typically pick up a little something for my husband on Valentine's Day. Just a little treat to let him know I was thinking of him. We don't go all out on Valentine's Day like some may. So this year, instead of making him a card, I decided to make him a little mini bag to hold his treat.

I found the pattern for this mini box on Pinterest sometime ago and never took the time to try it out. I think it came out pretty good for my first attempt.

The sentiment is from Created with TLC and I cut it with my Spellbinders Die cut called Asian Accent. Everything else pretty much was from my stash. I picked up the little ladybug clothes pins sometime ago at a thrift shop and had little stickers to match.

When he takes off the clothes pin he will get a box full of truffles. I may have to sneak a few...

This mini bag was made using 11" x 8.5" card stock. No cutting only folding. I found the pattern over at Silvey's Craftroom. I have added the link if you want to check it out. The fold is a little funky, but it came together pretty nicely. Hopefully hubby will get a kick out of it.

I would like to enter my project into the following challenges:

Ends Feb 8 - Decorate to celebrate - Valentine Box
Ends Feb 28 - Creative Moments - #36 Anything Goes
Ends Feb 17 - Make it Monday - ATG

I just love Black and white cards. I stumbled across this challenge for Black and White cards and I just had to share. I usually do not post more than one time a day, but I figured when I am on the road, I may not be able to post at all.

I used:

  • Black Card Stock for base of card
  • Tree stamp from Rubber Stampede
