Missing You

Losing a loved one is always rough! I have been feeling melancholy and my recent posts have probably shown that. My Mother-in-Law loved to play with her stamps. Many of the cards I have created recently have been with my rubber stamps. They are truly what I love to play with and remind me most of her.

So I wanted to share with you a very simple card I made using an image from Stampscapes, Lakeside Cove and Stampers Anonymous Nature Walk.

Crafter's Cafe - Flowers

It is Wednesday, that means another challenge over at Crafter's Cafe. Our theme this week is "Use 3 flowers" and our sponsor is Sweet n Sassy Stamps. The image I chose to work with is called Tulips. This image is perfect for many occasions and is so versatile.

My Mom has been asking me for some sympathy cards, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to get working on those. These are always good cards to have on hand.

So get out your flowers and lets see what you can come up with. Can't wait to see it!

With Love from Goonkie

I come to you today to share a card I am sending to my Aunt in New Mexico. I lost my Uncle this morning and my heart is sad. It is funny how you may not speak to someone in a while, but your heart can still hurt when you loose someone that was a very big part of your life in the past.

Growing up my uncle was always around us. I spent summers with him and my Aunt as a young girl and have some very fond memories. He and my other uncle had a nick name for me and it is something I had not thought about in a while. They called me "Goonkie." Now I am not sure where that came from, but it was who I was to them. They even had a little lyric they would sing...I'm talkin about Goonks MaGoonks...

Sounds silly, but it makes me smile to think about it. My heart is heavy as I think about how in an instant, we can loose family and friends. This was sudden and unexpected, which makes the shock even harder.  My Aunt always comments on my cards on FB and is a great supporter. I am sending this to her today with my Love.

Uncle Bud, if you can hear me, know that your Goonkie loved you and you will always be a fond memory in my heart.

The sentiment was provided by Lisa over at Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. Here is a closer look:

Word Art Wednesday - Fill-In DT Post

It is Wednesday, that means another challenge over at Word Art Wednesday (WAW). It has been a pleasure filling in over there with the team these last few weeks. In the past, I had not made many cards with scripture, but I am loving the opportunity to create some.

This week's scripture can be found over at WAW, so pop over and take a peek. Our sponsors this week are Moonlighting Designs and Paper Temptress.

Once again the theme is anything goes. We just ask that you use encouraging or uplifting sentiments in your entries. Feel free to use the free scripture/word art that is provided. Remember, you can enter up to 5 projects and they can be anything, not just cards.

I used one of my favorite rubber stamps for this card and colored in the image using my Chromatix Markers. Here is a close up of the scripture and the card:
Be sure to pop over to WAW and see what the other DT members have come up with. Hopefully we have inspired you to play along this week.

Word Art Wednesday - Fill-In DT Week 3

Well it is mid January. We are half way through the first month of the year. I have started out with a bang, filling in on the Design Team at WAW and being asked as the Guest Designer over at Path of Positivity. These both have similar goals, so I happy to participate in both of these this month.

This is my third card for WAW and the scripture that was provided is from Psalm 146:5.

Our first sponsors for this week's challenge is Mark's Finest Paper. They are offering up a Stamp Set of Choice. Our second sponsor is Yours Or Mine Paper Crafts who is offering up a $10 GC.

The scripture is provided for free to use for your project, but it is not a requirement to play along. Since this is a family friendly blog, we ask that you use encouraging or uplifting sentiments in your entries. You can enter up to 5 projects and they can be anything, not just cards.

I hope that I have inspired you to play along this week. Pop on over to WAW and see what the other members of the Design Team have created. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Here is the card that I came up with:

The paper I used for my card came from my DCWV paper pack called the Mariposa. I grunged up the sides of the sentiment using my Tim Holtz peeled paint distressing ink. The butterfly was made with my Cuttlebug Butterflies die cut and I used my Spellbinders Asian Accents to cut out the banner at the bottom.
Flowers were created using punches and used ribbon and gems are from my stash.

I hope to see you play along this week!
