The Crafter's Cafe Challenge - CAS

We are mid week and mid month. Where does the time fly? It is time for another challenge over at The Crafter's Cafe. This week our theme is CAS. For you newbies that is Clean and Simple. Our sponsor this week is A Day for Daisies. I used one of their freebies this week called Favorite Flower Pot. Pop over and take a look. They have some wonderful images and a few free ones as well.

I am not quite sure what I am going to do with this card yet, it would work well as a Thank you note, a birthday card or even a Mother's Day card. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:
  •  Bearly Mine  -M, P1,2E, SIO  Spring

Riley & Company - Clean and Simple (CAS)

It is time for another challenge over at Riley and CompanyThis week our theme is CAS.

In order to play along, you need to use a Riley and Company image. Now, if you do not have any Riley images, be sure to check out the great selection at the store. I am sure you will find something you love.

This is a fun black and white card using one of the funny bones quotes along with the great Retro picture.

Want to play along?

If you would like to play along with us of course we would love to have you!

To play create a card using Riley and Company images. If you upload your card/project to SCS (Splitcoast Stampers) don't forget to include the keyword RILEY0814. We can't wait to see what you create.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Teams blogs today to see what they created for this challenge.

Clean and Simple Cards

As a card designer, it is always instinct to add and embellish my card with lots of bling. But sometimes you just need to step back and adopt the mantra "Keep it simple!" There are many card challenges out there that have this theme. You may see it abbreviated as CAS for Clean And Simple. I do not participate in many of them as I usually do not keep it simple. Many of these cards tend to have more "white space," but that is not necessarily a requirement. The idea is typically to focus on the message rather than the embellishments. I have also seen cards with added texture to the background. This can be done with embossing or cards that are minimally embellished. The CAS style works really well when you need to replicate a card numerous times, such as Christmas Cards. Hopefully I have accomplished the CAS style with my Snowman.
