ATCs using my Sidekick

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you some cute ATCs I made using my new sidekick. I hadn't had a chance to really sit down and play with it while creating, so I thought ATCs would be a good place to start.

I really wanted to test the ease of it as well as the convenience. Today I am working with a one piece die, but many of the newer designs have multiple pieces.  While the multiple pieces really ad to the uniqueness of the image, they take more time to cut.

This is where the convenience comes into play. I loved that I was able to have this machine right next to me while creating. It was so light weight and I could use it and move it aside with ease and without it taking up much desk space.

The big shot platform is a lot larger and takes more time to cut little items, but the sidekick had a much smaller platform enabling the dies to go through much quicker.

With the ease and convenience of this new tool, I know I will be creating much more detailed die cuts!

Random Act of Kindness Day & Giveaway

Today is National Random Act of Kindness Day! So what does that mean? Well, it is just like it sounds, it is a day to spread kindness, but it is Random and typically unexpected by the recipient.

In honor of RAK, I decided to create some ATC's and send them out to some random people.  I have stamped the back of my ATC's with a stamp from Simply Stamps.

Simply Stamps has a specialty section,which provides several styles of these Random Act of Kindness stamps. These can be used for envelopes, cards, or the back of ATC's.

To create these cards, i simply pulled out a few of my scrap papers, some collage medium and my scissors.

Using my tonic scissors, i cut out some rectangles and triangles to create some small houses.  I adhered the shapes onto a 2.5" x 3.5" piece of heavy decorative card stock using matte collage medium

To mute down the colors a bit, I applied some gesso to the top of my design and thinned it out using a baby wipe.  

I then outlined my houses using distress crayons and rubbed in those colors using my collage medium.

Finally, I picked out some word phrases to add to my ATC and stamped the back with my Random Act of Kindness Stamp.

So Suzy ATC exchange

I love ATC exchanges, they are perfect starters for future cards. Sometimes you just need a little help to give your creativity a kick start.

So Suzy Stamps is having an ATC exchange and for once I am ahead of the game. Parisian theme's are one of my favorites, so I decided to use the Paris Post Mark stamp along with Oh La La for my ATC.

I wanted a vintage theme, but wanted the stamps to stand out so I used my new StazOn-Midi Claret ink and it worked fabulous. I also used the  StazOn-Midi Ganache for the Eiffel tower stamped image.

This ATC exchange was a big one. I had to create 15 of those little guys...and of course made a few extra for myself to put on some cards as you can see. But once you have your design down, they go pretty quickly.

Deep Red Stamps - ATC PROF. BOSTON

Hi everyone! I visited a local craft store over the weekend called The Paper Collage. If you are local, you definitely want to check out this store. I had a nice chat with the owner and had a very nice time browsing the store.

She hosts a monthly ATC exchange that I thought would be fun to participate in. This months theme is Vintage Hollywood. Here is what I came up with.

ATC's are a blast to make. I really like the layering technique and because these cards are so little, you definitely get to layer.  I also get to incorporate some of the vintage style I LOVE so much.

While I was at the store I did do a bit of shopping and picked up this stamp.

ATC Card Inspiration

Hello all!
I wanted to share with you an ATC I made using an image from Create with TLC.
Many of you are very familiar with Paulette as she offers wonderful freebie's daily She had asked if I wanted to create an ATC using one of her images and I jumped at the opportunity.

This image is called Anniversary Dinner Vintage Collage and worked perfect for an ATC.

 I used various Tim Holtz items to create a vintage feel. I was very happy with the way the ATC came out and I am sure you will be seeing it on one of my future cards.

I was so glad that Paulette offered up this opportunity to be featured on her blog!

My First ATC's (Artistic Trading Cards)

I have never made ATC's before, but the challenge over at A Vintage Journey is ATC's only, so guess what...I am making ATC Cards.

I think I am hooked. These are great little cards that I can add to bigger cards in the future. They can have a lot of layering, or none at all. I tried to make three different styles using embossing, stickers, metal brads, lace and Tim's tissue paper.

I will give you a closer look at each of them.

My first one is done with Tim's Salvage Stickers collection, a number brad, rub on and some washi tape. the background is an embossing folder that I inked up with distressing ink and rubbed onto my ATC.

My next one I ran through an embossing folder, and then rubbed some distress paint onto it. I added an image I had laying around as my focal piece, then added lace, brads, stickers and again some washi tape.
I finished it off with some Crackle Accents.

My last one I went a little simpler. I have this great old map stamp that I have used for nautical cards and I didn't want to cover up too much of the map, so I didn't. I did however add one of my favorite Tim Holt'z saying, "Not All Who Wonder Are Lost" and finished it off with a metal embellishment that says Explore.

So I hope I did ATC's justice. They were fun to make and I am sure you will see them pop up on one of my future cards.
