Brutus Monroe Blog Hop

Hi Crafty Friends! I am excited to be participating in a blog hop with my friends over at Brutus Monroe.

I had such a great time guest designing this month and I was honored to be asked to participate in the team blog hop.  For my project, I decided to showcase this beautiful paper collection called Rustic florals.

This paper is so beautiful, and I knew when I saw it, I had to have it. I decided to create a layered card using this paper set and some black card stock.

So I started out by cutting my first layer using one rectangular dies I had in my stash.  Then I cut a piece of black card stock about 1/4 inch larger around the edged.

Then I took then next smaller die and did the same thing and adhered this layer onto the first layer.

I wanted my final layer to stand out a bit more, so I adhered that using some double sided foam tape.

I decided to go simple with my sentiment and cut out the word "HI" several times with one of my letter sets. As a final touch, I added some black Nuvo drops.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Layered Cards - European Paper Crafts

Hi everyone and happy Friday. I know many of you struggle with layered cards, so I thought I would share with you a paper stack that will help you with that.

European Paper crafts has a paper pack called Romantic pictures. but it is much more than pictures. The paper stack has ephemera that can be added to your design to create a 3D look.

To see my complete process, check out my video below:

What I love about this stack is that each page has everything you need to create a beautiful layered card. It also has a picture of the finished card so that you can easily follow the example.

You can find everything you need in the shop, including the 3D foam adhesives to add the 3D element to your cards.

Follow the design, or create your own. The sky is the limit with these fun paper sets. Be sure to check out the shop for more themes.

Don't forget to use code: Monica for an additional 10% off.

Thanks for stopping by!

Layered Cards using Ephemera

Hello everyone! Today i am sharing with you my most recent Christmas Cards and Video on You Tube. I love to create layered cards using ephemera. They are probably one of the more easier designs as there is no wrong way to layer!

To watch my process video, click below.

I find when I am layering cards, the thinner the paper the better.  I have some old printer paper (the ones that had the holes on the sided to feed through your printer), but you could use any printer paper you have on hand.

Once you have your ephemera printed, you can cut it out or tear the edges.  I like to add washi tape to the edges so that it gives it a nice finished look.

I have a some ephemera sets in my shop that would work great for this technique. Be sure to check them out in my digital section

This retro Santa set has some great Santa images that would be great focal points on your cards this year. I also have some ephemera sets for your backgrounds.

Vintage Layered Cards - Video Hop!

Welcome to save the Crafty Youtuber video hop. Due to some changes over on You Tube, many crafty friends (including myself) no longer qualify to monetize our videos. While this is not the main reason we create content for you, it does help us to purchase a lot of the supplies that you see in our videos.

So to help promote each other's channels, 50 Crafty Youtubers have gotten together, along with some sponsors to share with you some great channels. Our hope is you will love what you see and subscribe.

You can find my video below where I am sharing with you my process for creating a vintage inspired layered card.

To create my layers, I am using some paper from the Tim Holtz Correspondence paper stack. I am also using some great ephemera as well as two stamp sets.

On a layered card, I usually do have a focal point and for this card that is one of the Film strips from the idea-ology collection from Tim Holtz. I framed the middle picture using a wooden frame and added a great sentiment.

I provided a list of all the products I used to create this card if you are interested.  Don't forget to check out the video hop where we are offering up some great prizes from our sponsors.

I will also be giving away a $25 gift certificate to Scrapbook(com) once I hit my 2,000 subscriber milestone.

Thanks for stopping by!

Creating Layered Stamps

I am here today to share with you some of my cards I made with my layered backgrounds. Tim Holtz does such an awesome job at this technique and has some great paper and stamp line called Components that follow this technique that have inspired me.

So I thought I would share with you some of the cards I have made and my process for this technique. I have created a video to walk you through the process as well, so feel free to check that out also.

If you do not have a lot of supplies, you can easily start out by using some card stock such as the Memoranda set from Tim Holtz. Alternatively, you could start out with a simple background such as I did in the card below and overlay the background with large number stamps and ephemera.

Adding color helps to create focal points on background stamps. You can easily emphasize some of the images on busy backgrounds by stamping overlays in black archival ink.  Ephemera, washi tape and word stickers are also a great way to add to the layered look.
