New Years Resolution: Step it Up

Happy Friday!
Whew I thought we would never get here. Why is it that after a vacation, the work week seems so long? We are 10 days into the New Year, hopefully everyone is still on track with their New Years Resolutions, LOL.

Well, another one of my resolutions this year is to step it up on my cards, go outside of my comfort zone and try new techniques. That is what these challenges are all about, right? I am here today to share with you my very first step card. I have been wanting to make one for a while, so I finally sat down and watched several You Tube videos, wrote down the instructions and proceeded to make my card base. Here is the result of  my effort:

Now I guess I will admit to you that it did take me three tries to get it right. I kept folding it incorrectly, but I finally got it.

I kept my mistakes as templates so hopefully going forward I will get it right the first time.

You will probably be seeing a few more of these step cards as I want to practice this new technique, but hopefully these challenges will keep me true to my New Years resolution and "challenge" me on new techniques. I will try to stay away from the "Anything Goes", but may enter a few here and there.

The image is from Lacy Sunshine and is called Rory Love Letters. Heather's images are always so sweet and fun to work with. I have been participating in her progressive challenges for the last several months and she is so generous with her images. I used a quick kutz die cut for the envelopes on the side and a Tim Holtz die cut for the Lantern. Bling'd it up with some flowers and Gems and used pop ups to give image some dimension.  I have been working with my new Chromatix markers for a few weeks now, continuing to practice my shading techniques. Hopefully ya'll can start to see some progressive improvement.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Well, I guess that is it for now.
