Friendship Flowers

If you follow me, you know that I have a "Honeymoon" period with all my new purchases. I have been playing with the Tim Holtz Distress Crayons for a few weeks now and I LOVE them more and more everyday.

I had mostly been using them with my Collage Medium as the moisture in that product really creates a good blending solution and helps with the smudging look. I love making vintage inspired cards, and the "smudge" is a big part of them.

But for this card, I wanted to try to just color and blend, not smudge outside the lines. I thought this new stencil called Bold Florals from Stamplorations would work great. It has lots of BIG Flowers, which I thought would work great for coloring.

I stenciled the flowers onto some cardstock using my texture paste. Once it was dry, I tried a few different blending techniques. I tried it without any moisture, and the results were not great. I then tried it with my collage medium, but that was too moist. Finally, I tried it using Tim's suggestion by spraying some water onto a paper towel and using that to blend. The results were just right. I felt like the little Bear in the three little Bears story!

It made a perfect Spring Card. I also used a new sentiment builder stamp set from Stamplorations called Thank You which finished off the card nicely.
