Since I have started making cards, my family members look forward to their little surprises in the mail on each holiday. Valentine's Day is a big card month and I send cards to my sister's, nieces, nephew and parents on both sides. I try to personalize their cards and put a lot of thought into what I will make.
My older sister is a Social Worker. She has the tough job of removing children from homes that are suspected of abuse. It is always hard to remove a child, but sometimes necessary. She is a strong sole and it takes a big heart to do what she does.
Also, I did get some recommendations on video's to watch on skin tones and this card is my first card after watching those tutorials. I think that the skin tones on this card came out great. I was very happy with the results. Now that I have an idea of what to do, I will just keep practicing. But now that I see what they can do, I want more...oh well, I guess I know what to ask for on my birthday, LOL
This KennyK image is perfect to depict a strong woman. It is called SuperMom. Now she is not a mom, but I like the image because it depicts a strong woman. The sentiment is from A Piece of Heart and works perfect with this image.
A Valentine does not have to be just for a sweetheart, It can be for family and friends. It is the holiday of Love, so I think this card fits the theme over at KennyK which is an optional theme of LOVE
The sketch I used is from Sketch Saturday.
Here is a closer look so you can see the sentiment a bit better:

Monica, this card is absolutely fabulous and you are right, the sentiment is perfect for this card! You did an incredible job with the coloring.
ReplyDeleteI see the kind of children that your sister deals with every day (I work in an inner-city school where there are many at-risk kids) so I admire her strength as I know it must constantly tug at the heartstrings. I wish I could scoop them all up and bring them home but it's not possible so I'm very thankful for the social workers in our school who do their best to make sure these children are in the safest possible environment. Thank you for using one of my sentiments and showcasing it beautifully.
